While having lunch at Melissa’s Produce last month, they talked a lot about the healing properties of Turmeric Root. Some have even made claims that it cures cancer! After visiting Melissa’s Produce, I began doing research. I learned that it does have many healing powers. The one thing that caught my attention was the anti-aging benefits. Turmeric Root is Available through Melissa’s Produce Melissa’s Produce was so kind to send me a package of Turmeric Root to experiment with and create recipes. You can purchase it online or find it at a retailer that sells Melissa’s Produce. My daughter and I made Turmeric Root and Sweet Potato soup, and hummus, we were hooked. We took a GMC Denali to Ojai as a guest of GMC After having children, I realized that I was spending less time with our dog than I did before kids. I decided it was time to have some bonding time with our dog, and took her with me to Ojai. I loaded up our GMC Acadia Denali with all her favorite toys and made the short drive to Ojai. Road Tripping with Dogs in the GMC Denali Acadia When planning the trip, I made sure that Daisy was safe in the back seat by using a harness. She had a smile on her face the entire car ride. While staying at the Lake Arrowhead Resort, we took a short walk into the village to have lunch at The Lakefront Tap Room Bar and Kitchen. I had heard a lot about the restaurant and was excited to have a relaxing meal. Restaurant Near The Lake Arrowhead Resort The restaurant is right on the water, so families can enjoy beautiful water views while dining. They also have a great selection of beers for the parents. The restaurant is quite popular, so we did have to wait for about an hour to get a table. While waiting, we walked over to the Village Ice Cream and Sweet Shoppe to enjoy dessert before lunch. It wasn’t long until I got a text message that our table was ready. We were lucky to have gotten a table on the outdoor patio for...

Genoa Bar and Saloon: Nevada’s Oldest Saloon

Posted by on Jan 3, 2019 in Autos, Carson Valley, General Motors, Genoa, Nevada, Travel | 0 comments

While visiting Genoa Nevada, I had to make a quick stop at the oldest bar in Nevada, Genoa Bar, and Saloon. I drove our Chevy Tahoe over to the saloon after having lunch at the historic Pink House. The kids played with a wild deer outside of the saloon, while I went inside to explore. The minute that I walked into the saloon, I felt like I had been transported into another time. It was something straight out of a movie. Since I was driving with my kids, I couldn’t enjoy a cocktail, but I did take some time to soak up the ambiance. The saloon has a huge old-fashioned bar, a pool table, and even some tables for gambling. About Genoa Bar In 1863, Al Livingston built the building and called it Livingston’s exchange. We dined as a guest of Silva’s Fresh Eatery + Churrascaria Silva’s Fresh Eatery + Churrascaria made the Santa Ana food scene better than ever. Churrascarias are one of my favorite types of restaurant. The only problem is that many of them have overpriced menus. When I learned about Silva’s, I couldn’t wait to taste their meats. I went to dinner at Silva’s before attending the ballet at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. The restaurant is a short drive from the theatre. The minute that I walked into the restaurant, I was in love with the decor. It is a beautiful restaurant with a modern look. We visited as a guest of the venue Every time I watch the Nutcracker ballet, it just gets more and more amazing. I have to say when I saw it this year at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, I never wanted it to end. The dancers and the costumes were mesmerizing, and the traditional dances made me want never to take my eyes off the stage. We arrived at the theater and took our seats, eagerly waiting for the show to begin. We the dancers finally came out it was fun to start humming in my head some of the original Nutcracker songs that no one can forget. As I watched the dancers spin around and around, I was captured into a world of fairytales and magical nutcrackers. When the Nutcracker turned into a real person, I was...

Thanks to STXfilms for the invitation Jennifer Lopez delivers an epic performance in the upcoming film “Second Act.” I loved every minute of the film, and I couldn’t wait to sit down with Jennifer Lopez and Leah Remini to discuss their roles in the movie. One of my favorite things about this movie is that it is a story about a woman over the age of 40 reinventing herself. The message of the film will empower women over the age of 40. It will show women that you can be whatever you want. That it’s not over, it is just the beginning! It was one of the main reasons that Lopez wanted to make the film. “With Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas as my producing partner came up with the spark of an idea, like kind of a Working Girl, It’s a...

She is a mom who got married young, didn’t finish school, and wants to go back-to-school to finish what she didn’t finish. Her life kinda stinks, and after complaining about her life, she tries to cheer herself up by reminding herself that “she is blessed.” After seeing the film (which is hilarious), I had the honor of talking with Mary Lynn Rajskub about the making of the film, motherhood and second chances. She started by sharing with me how she has a “double life.” She goes out at night to do standup comedy, which can get a little raunchy, and then she gets up in the morning to take her son to school. She shared...

Star Wars Teen Movie and Game Night

Posted by on Sep 25, 2018 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

Sponsored I don’t know about you, but game nights are my favorite kind of nights, especially when game nights are based on one of the best movies. Solo: A Star Wars Story. The film was one of my families favorite Star Wars movies. After hearing that the movie was coming to DVD and BluRay, my brothers and I decided to have a game night, but make it Solo themed. When we were done with playing the game, we would go inside and watch the movie. We first started setting up by taking the Han Solo Monopoly game board and set it up outside on a blanket. We then threw some comfy Chewbacca blankets and pillows to make the space even more comfortable. We then waited for the sun to set and began our family game night. My little brother...

Posted by on Sep 24, 2018 in Disney, Halloween, Holiday, Theme Parks | 0 comments

I visited as a guest of Disney One of our family’s favorite things to do when visiting the Disneyland Resort during Halloween Time is to taste all of the sweet treats that can be found throughout the park. This year, it is all about the churros with there being seven different flavors of churros (plus churro sundaes) for your family to enjoy during while visiting the Disneyland Resort. While at the Disneyland Resort last week, our family embarked on a delicious journey of trying all the different churro flavors. We started at the Disneyland Park at the Golden Horseshoe by tasting the churro sundae. It was the best sundae I have ever devoured, and I enjoyed it so much that I went back for seconds. The dessert featured hand-scooped vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, cookie dough, and a warm...

The Historic Warner Grand Theatre

Posted by on Aug 16, 2018 in San Pedro, Theatre, Travel | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue One of my favorite things that we did when exploring San Pedro was visiting the Warner Grand Theatre. I am a little bit of a history and architecture nerd, and the minute that the trolley stopped in front of the historic theatre, I was in love. The Warner Grand Theatre opened on January 20, 1931, and was built by the distinguished team of architect B. Marcus Priteca and the artist Anthony Heinsbergen (the same team that designed the Hollywood Pantages). The theatre features some exemplary aspects of art deco like: lines, steps, sweeping curves as well as chevron patterns and the sunburst motifs. The finest examples in the Warner Grand are on the auditorium ceiling and the mezzanine ceiling. This Theatre’s design has been called “Neo-byzantine.” The theatre looks just as...

Posted by on Jul 27, 2018 in Disney, Entertainment, Featured, Film, Travel | 0 comments

It has been nine years since I last visited my family in London.  We are a close-knit bunch and spend every day together.  The last time we were there my children were 1 and 4 which meant that every day was spent in a park.   My aunt Barbara told us about this enchanting park that she felt the children would love so we headed out to Aldenham Country Park in Hertfordshire to visit the 100 Aker Wood.  Now if that sounds a bit familiar it may be due to a little song that starts off like this: Deep in the hundred acre wood Where Christopher Robin plays, you will find the enchanted neighborhood of Christopher’s childhood days A donkey named Eeyore is his friend. And Kanga and little Roo. There’s Rabbit. and Piglet And there’s Owl But most of...
