Renegade Summer Trail Running Series

Renegade-Summer-Trail-1 I was given a chance to participate in trail running series this summer. Renegade Race Series have a three Race event this summer. Thursday nights on June 19, July 10, and August 7th at the Cedar Grove Park in Tustin. Last night a couple of my friends and I drove to Tustin to run the first 5 mile race of the series. We left with plenty of time since I had never been there and traffic is always a given. The parking was easy, fast and FREE! Best of all there was no traffic. Renegade-Summer-Trail-2 Picking up our bibs, shirt and goody bags was easy and quick. The volunteers were super friendly and helpful. The park had a couple of bathrooms, and the Race had more brought in. At 6:00 they started inviting anyone who wanted to warm up before the race, and they had a guided warm up session at the grass field. Renegade-Summer-Trail-3 At around 6:15 the National Anthem was sung, final instructions were given, and we start the race. The first quarter mile was wide and relatively flat. At around mile one the hills started. Some were steep and hard to run up. Others were not bad at all. But as soon as we got to the top the view was just incredible. They had several water stations, and they seemed to always be at the right place when you needed the most!   IMG_8498 IMG_8499 The whole race was a loop, and before we knew it, we were back the last quarter mile heading back to the finish line! IMG_8511 After the finish line, they had BBQ waiting for us. And again super friendly staff with plenty of food right off the grill, water bottles, chips and a bag of cookies. IMG_8514 I have done several of the Renegade Race Series events, and they know how to put a race on! They consider every detail. From choosing the right venue to communicating to participants about changes, what to expect and even weather warming! They are super friendly and very good to work with.
