Romantic Oceanfront Dining in Puerto Vallarta
We dined as a guest of the venue
Whenever I am in Mexico, I am always looking for the best oceanfront restaurants. After having lunch at Las Casitas at CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa, I made reservations to return for dinner. The food was spectacular, the views were breathtaking, and it was clearly the best place for a romantic oceanfront dinner.
Even though I was not traveling with my husband, I knew it was the ideal location to relax and reconnect with my daughter over an exquisite cuisine while watching the sunset. We arrived at the restaurant after experiencing their interactive sunset guacamole presentation. We took our seat at a table overlooking the crystalline waters and ordered a couple of appetizers to start while enjoying the crisp ocean breezes.
We started dinner with a small bite of the crab enchilada that featured manchego cheese, carrot and jicama slaw, chipotle aioli, and a tomato chili sauce. The enchilada had a unique flavor combination unlike anything I’ve had before, and I savored every bite.
You can’t dine in Puerto Vallarta without having some freshly made ceviche, and Las Casitas makes an incredible version. Their ceviche is light, refreshing, delicious, and the perfect prelude to any dinner at Las Casitas.
For those looking for something a little heavier to start their meal, I recommend the pan fried shrimp or lobster tacos. The pan fried shrimp features four large pieces of shrimp with white wine, garlic, capers, tomato and lemon butter sauce. The lobster tacos are large enough to be the main course and made with coriander remoulade, cabbage and carrot slaw inside of a warm flour tortilla.
When it came to ordering the main course, my daughter and I went for the surf & turf option. She ordered the Arrachera while I ordered the catch of the day. The Arrachera (flank steak) that she ordered was large enough for two people to share and came on a bed of fluffy mashed potatoes. The steak came topped with a “pasilla” sauce, spring onions, and was cooked to perfection. The fish that I devoured melted in my mouth with every bite. It was prepared with a creamy garlic sauce, white navy beans cooked in lemon and thyme. It came on top of a bed of parmesan mashed potatoes and paired with fresh vegetables.
Another recommended dish is their seared Pacific tuna. The recipe features cured melted Foie gras, vanilla bean butter sauce, thai rice and stir fried vegetables.
We ended our dinner with a variety of decadent desserts before drifting off to sleep in our comfortable hotel room. When looking for one of the best places to have a romantic oceanfront dining experience while in Puerto Vallarta, Las Casitas will take you on an unforgettable epicurean adventure.
