Route 66: Elmer’s Bottle Tree Ranch

Vehicle provided on behalf of Kia

Every time that we go to Las Vegas, we are always in a rush to get to the city to have some fun. This summer, I took the kids by myself to Zion National Park, and we made a quick stop in Las Vegas. Since I was traveling without my husband, I decided to take my time getting to Las Vegas and explore some stops along the small strip of Route 66 that was just a short detour on our way to Las Vegas. One of our favorite stops along Route 66 was Elmer’s Bottle Tree Ranch!

The small area of Route 66 between OC and Vegas adds about an hour to your road trip (depending on how many times you want to stop and take cool pictures). Elmer’s Bottle Tree Ranch is worth the detour, and if you love to capture fun and unique pictures – then this is the place for you!

As we arrived at Elmer’s Bottle Tree Ranch, the kids had their faces pressed against the windows of our Kia Sorento. They couldn’t wait to get out of the car to explore the funky roadside attraction. The minute that they stepped out of our Sorento, they were off exploring.

Elmer’s Bottle Tree Ranch has thousands of empty glass bottles displayed as cool, funky and unique art sculptures. Along with the bottle sculptures, there are also a ton of rusted antiques with the old fashioned typewriters being my absolute favorite.

We could have spent all day exploring Elmer’s Bottle Tree Ranch, but it was a hot day when we visited, and temperatures were getting close to the 120’s. Because of the heat, our trip was cut short, but we can’t wait to come back to visit the ranch on our next trip to Las Vegas.

Elmer’s Bottle Tree Ranch is complimentary for families to visit, but there is a tip jar that I recommend leaving some money to help support the artist. On your next trip to Las Vegas with the kids, get your kicks on Route 66 by stopping at Elmer’s Bottle Tree Ranch, and don’t miss seeing Zzyzx Road after visiting the ranch. It is located at National Trails Hwy, Oro Grande, CA 92368. Have fun!
