The Royal Rendezvous: Queen Mary & Queen Elizabeth
We attended as a guest of the venue
We had the opportunity to feel like royalty earlier this month as we stepped upon two gorgeous ocean vessels, the Queen Mary & Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth! A very unique day for the Queen Mary as she was visited by the Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth for the first time in history; docked at Long Beach harbor for the day during her global cruise. Yes, in a celebration of Queen Mary’s 80 years of public life & the dedication of a new Ship Model Gallery exhibit located on the Promenade Deck, it was a day for taking in a moment of history.
The Ship Model Gallery dedication on board the Queen Mary is the first phase of a wonderful new Museum & Science Center. It will house a future science center, educational classrooms, 4D theater, interactive displays as well as a variety of exhibits. The gallery features gorgeous, very detailed ship models encased in glass displays; both children and adults will be delighted! I spent a significant amount of time here because there is so much to look at and learn. You will find some of the world’s greatest ships; you know the ones we all read about in history books. Seeing the Titanic, Lusitania, Brittania, Oregon, Normandie and others along side the Queen Mary brings each ship to life. The attention to detail is breathtaking and you will learn a variety of fun facts along the way.
Later we were treated to a special tour of Queen Elizabeth; a breathtaking experience for us. What a beautiful cruise liner reminiscent of the Art Deco era…simply magnificent! We were lucky enough to capture some photos of the luxury liner in all her beauty to share with you. Full of lovely artwork, wood inlay pieces, gorgeous carpets and just drips of luxury, comfort and privacy. It is most certainly a liner of stunning beauty and it shows in many ways. So perhaps, add it to your bucket list of future indulgences; it’s quite grand!
The Queen Mary model museum is now open to the public. To learn more about this exhibit and other attractions, please visit: www.queenmary.com
