Safe Family Fun at Welk Resorts San Diego

Welk Resort San Diego

Many families are nervous about traveling during this time, but it can be done safely when choosing the right resort and adhering to the proper safety protocols. During the stay-at-home orders, I have still been traveling safely, and one of my favorite destinations has been the Welk Resorts San Diego.

Entrance to Welk San Diego

The family-owned resort puts families first. My favorite feature was that my family was able to drive right up to the front door of our luxurious, and spacious, villa. There was no elevator or busy lobby was making me feel comfortable from the moment that I arrived. In fact, there was drive thru check-in, making the check-in process seamless. My second favorite feature is that families need to make reservations for the pools to ensure there is no overcrowding.

Rooms

The room that we stayed in was a two-bedroom villa. There was plenty of room for my large family to feel comfortable. There is also a kitchen that is fully stocked with dishes, plates, and everything your family will need to prepare meals (food not included). Our room had a private balcony where I was able to sip on coffee while watching the golfers play in the mornings. Along with the large kitchen, the resort features outdoor barbecues where we were able to barbecue some of our meals. The room felt like a home away from home and was just the break our family needed from being locked up inside our home for months.

Pools

Family Pool at Welk San Diego

When it comes to pools – Welk San Diego is the best. There are five pools on the property with one that features a 120-foot water slide. There is an adult-only pool for when the parents need some serenity time, and pools that feature cabanas, games, and activities. I found myself spending most of my time relaxing and rejuvenating at the adult pool while sipping on a refreshing glass of iced tea.

Activities

There are plenty of safe and fun activities for families to experience at Welk San Diego. While at the resort, our family enjoyed a fun game of basketball, doing axe throwing, archery, and art projects. When the kids were not in the pool swimming, they were doing one of the fun activities which led to early bedtimes so we got some relaxing adult alone time.

Dining

When it comes to dining, the resort follows the current safety protocols. During our stay, it was at a time of take-out only options. We were able to order food from the restaurant, and bring it to our room to enjoy. There is also a small market that has to-go sandwiches, coffee, and pantry items that you might have forgotten. I recommend planning your meals, bringing all the ingredients, and cook in your room for optimal safety.

Reservations are available online or by calling 800-932-9355. The San Diego resort is located at 8860 Lawrence Welk Drive in Escondido.
