SAJJ Mediterranean: Family Friendly Mediterranean Dining

We dined as a guest of the venue

On Wednesday, we were guests of SAJJ Mediterranean restaurant in Irvine for family dinner. This is the second location for the fast growing SAJJ restaurant in Orange County (the other is located in Rancho Santa Margarita).

We were surprised that we had not heard about the restaurant already. If a Mediterranean restaurant opens within a 100 mile radius of our house, we are first to know. We found out that the grand opening for the store is actually on November 30th!

The restaurant is clean, modern and well lit all the necessary ingredients for a comfortable and casual experience with the kids. Immediately, I noticed all the available food options for us and forgot about the kids. However, my wife was kind enough to remind me to let the kids go first.

The ordering system at the restaurant is part of the new trend. You basically make your meal by choosing from various options. The various options will in turn give you thousands of opportunities to try out new tastes and mixes.

For SAJJ your first option is to choose a bowl or a wrap. For the bowl, you can have rice base or salad or mix it up and do half and half! You can then choose your protein which includes such options as Steak or Chicken Shawarma, pomegranate chicken or falafel (for vegetarian customers). You can also do half and half on any of the options.

Next you can choose sauces and toppings which are too numerous to name. But I assure you that you will find at least a few items you will love.

The drinks options are also unique. You have the normal fountain drinks available, but there are three homemade lemonades you need to check out. My favorites were the mint and tamarind lemonades.

The food is made fresh and locally-sourced so you can enjoy the meal knowing that a healthy option was made.

One of the eye catching deals I saw was that SAJJ Mediterranean offered a family deal. For $29.95 you can get a feast for four that includes falafel, chicken shawarma, mixed green salad, rice, hummus, tzatziki (yogurt sauce), pita bread and SAJJ sauces.

We really enjoyed our meal at SAJJ and will be going back for further exploration of the menu options.
