San Diego Staycation at Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina
We stayed as a guest of the resort
San Diego is one of my favorite summer staycation destinations with the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina being one of the premier resorts for families. The resort is centrally located right on the waterfront and is just steps away from the popular Gaslamp Quarter.
With summer right around the corner, I couldn’t wait to plan a family staycation at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina, so we had a pre-summer getaway. I made plans to stay during my son’s birthday weekend so he could enjoy some relaxation by the pool and have dinner at a restaurant he had wanted to try, Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse.
When we first arrived at the resort, we checked into our luxurious room that had beautiful panoramic views of San Diego. There was a small balcony where I took a seat and felt all my stresses of daily life drift away. It wasn’t long before I noticed that the kids were in their swimsuits and ready for me to take them to the pool for a swim.
The pool was surrounded by lush tropical landscaping and the ideal place for parents to relax. There is a small splash pad, children’s pool, jacuzzi and an adult only jacuzzi. I connected with my mind, body and spirit while relaxing by the pool and watching happiness radiate from my children as they played together in the water. Together, we munched on snacks, sipped on ice cold water, and had an unforgettable afternoon together.
Before it was time for the sun to begin to set, we went back to our room where we had a refreshing shower and got ready to have dinner at the Gaslamp Quarter. As I stood on our balcony, I was captivated by the beautiful sunset over the crystalline harbor waters.
The evening was unforgettable. We enjoyed an interactive dining experience at Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse and then had an ice cream sundae at Ghirardelli. There was live entertainment along the streets that my children loved as we walked back to our resort for bed.
That evening, the kids drifted off to sleep in the comfortable Marriott beds while having magical dreams of our time spent together.
As the sun began to rise, my children awoke ready for another day of fun. We enjoyed a lavish breakfast buffet before renting a bike to ride along the boardwalk. Laughter surrounded the air above our double Surrey as we attempted to ride the bike together. It was such a fun experience that I recommend parents trying when staying at the resort.
We left the resort with a stronger family bond, and our hearts full of magical memories of our time spent together.
