Santa’s Village is back! Do you remember the excitement of visiting as a child? We sure do! When we heard it would be opening again it was as if we regressed and were youngsters again!

We were lucky enough to participate in a sneak peek of the Christmas themed amusement park; bringing back memories with grandparents and all the childlike wonder bubbling up in each of us. We were going to see Santa!!

The original Santa’s Village opened in 1955, having been closed for the past 18 years. After 30 months of careful restoration and transformation; in keeping with the nostalgia of the park, SkyPark at Santa’s Village is about to open and you too can visit the North Pole themed outdoor adventure park.

Strolling through the new park, you begin to breathe in the crisp, cool mountain air; taking in the natural beauty of the forest. The sound of festive music fills the air, with a visual explosion of all things Christmas! Twinkling lights adorn the trees, taking a moment to look down; as we notice the lights embedded on the meandering pathways throughout the park.

Next stop for us was to visit the Gingerbread House where you can find sweet, delicious treats of gingerbread, cookies and candy. It’s magical inside and you can sit outside at counter stools with a steaming cup of hot cocoa or coffee. You will get to view through the glass as bakers and candy makers create sugary goodness.

One of our favorite discovery’s during our visit was the dog, Arrow. Arrow is white and fluffy; a frequent visitor of Santa’s Village. He’s gorgeous with one eye that is half brown, half blue. He has a noble strength and is Santa’s faithful companion helping in the delivery of presents. You’ll find beautiful, white furry hats for purchase in the retail shops; they represent Arrow. We loved wearing ours as we were visiting the park.

There is a good selection of dining options; St. Nicks, a casual patio and grill restaurant with handcrafter burgers and more. At Pedal Pub you can sip on a nice craft microbrew from the local area. You’ll also be quite happy with Gatherings, an upscale restaurant offering a bistro style menu. A nice variety for many different palate’s

If you’re looking for a little more activity and something to burn a few calories; good news, there is a rock climbing wall or what appears to be rather a giant wall of ice to climb. The park is planning to add zip lines, hiking and camping later down the road to create a year round attraction.

  1. looks adorable and quaint! We are heading up for the weekend in mid December but with cabin costs, other mountain activities and with 8 people in tow, this will have to wait for another year.
