Sessions West Coast Deli Opens in Irvine

We visited as a guest of the venue

Our favorite place to take the kids for sandwiches has recently expanded with an all-new location in the heart of Irvine. Whenever we are planning a family picnic or a day at the beach Sessions West Coast Deli has always been our go-to place for delicious and fresh finely crafted sandwiches.

The all-new location is in the newly redesigned Woodbridge Village Center and features a relaxing outdoor patio complete with a fire pit and views of the beautiful lake. On the eve of their grand opening, I took the kids to get a first look at the new restaurant and their newly redesigned menu.

We found a seat on the outdoor patio, and I sipped on a cup of cold brew coffee while enjoying the company of a dear friend and basked in the views of the crystalline waters. It was a little chilly the night that we dined at Sessions West Coast Deli, but we were made comfortable with the blankets provided by the restaurant.

Chef Max Schlutz, a dedicated OC Dad, is the mastermind behind the menu at Sessions West Coast Deli, and he added so many delicious choices to the new menu. It was hard to decide on what to order – so we ordered a little bit of everything.

After ordering, we waited for our food to arrive, and our children enjoyed running around the grass area in the center of the shopping center. While watching our children enjoying playing, I realized that this is the perfect place for families to bring their children out to eat because the children have a space to play while the parents enjoy a few moments alone to eat and have a glass of wine together.

For starters, we began with the chicken and donuts. This decadent dish featured chicken tenders and cinnamon donut holes topped with powdered sugar and served with maple syrup and a spicy bbq sauce. This dish was a favorite of my kids, and they enjoyed it so much that we ended up ordering a second serving.

While the kids devoured all the chicken and donuts, it was the papas con puerco that my friend and I could not get enough of. The dish features a large serving of skinny fries topped with bbq pork, xspecial sauce, pickled onion, sharp cheddar, jalapeno, cilantro and aged parmesan. This is definitely a dish to enjoy on your “cheat day.”

Then there were the chicken wings. I don’t normally order chicken wings when dining out, but the chef insisted we try them, and I was so glad that he did. The sweet chili garlic wings blew my mind – they were that good. The wings were fried to perfection and served in their famous bang sauce over ginger cole slaw.

When it comes to sandwiches, the summer zephyr will always be my ultimate favorite, but I wanted to try something new during this visit. We decided to try the veggie banh mi, and I was so glad that I did. The highlight of this sandwich are the sweet chile brussels sprouts – I could eat an entire bowl of them! The good news is that they offer their brussels sprouts as a side dish!! Along with the brussels sprouts are pickled onions, shredded carrot, jalapeno, cucumber, sriracha aioli, and cilantro.

The one thing I would never have expected to be one of my favorites at a place that specializes in sandwiches is burgers, but the burgers at Sessions West Coast Deli were amazingly delicious. We tried two of their burgers, the perfect burger, and the Cuban burger. The best part of the burger is the meat. I normally eat my burger without the bun, and just a small part of the toppings to get the flavors, which has made me learn what restaurants use the highest quality beef. The beef in their burgers was one of the best that I’ve ever had. It boosted with flavor, and I savored every bite.

Finally, there was the salad. Since I am on a strict diet, and can only enjoy a meal as I did on this night once in awhile, I wanted to have a taste of their salads. Chef had recommended the wedge, but we were in a festive mood and went with the taco belle salad. The salad was light and refreshing. It features soyrizo, red onion, tomato, Peruvian pepper, avocado, pico de gallo, and an adobo buttermilk dressing.

Sessions West Coast Deli opens in Irvine today! It is the perfect place for your family to enjoy a delicious meal and a place where your children won’t feel bound to their high chair throughout the entire meal because of their family-friendly ambiance. It is located at Woodbridge Village Center (4736 Barranca Pkwy in Irvine) for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Ps. they will be serving beer and wine for the parents.
