Spooky Date Night: Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor

We visited as a guest of the venue

Who loves Halloween? We do, and this year the Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor is host to some of our favorite spooky mazes! You’ll experience just the right amount of curiosity, fear, and surprise among the featured seven mazes while strolling through the carnival-like atmosphere of the night. As you become immersed in the world of Clowns, Acrobats, Fortune Tellers, Freakish Marionettes, the Ringmaster and the many spirits who’ve returned to create a hauntingly fun night!

Discovering the entrance to our first maze; Lullaby, we descend into the depths of the Queen Mary where Scary Mary is lurking everywhere. How does she move around so quickly? You’ll begin to see her haunting ways as she tries to find more playmates to fill her terrifying playground. Will you be next?

Feast, another new maze had us walking briskly! You guessed it, just as you can imagine, you discover you’re about to dine with the dead, and you are the featured entree. This maze is frightful as the zombie-like waiters pass by you pushing noisy food carts you’d find in a suspenseful film, but not to worry they’ll offer to help you find the perfect table. Insert evil laugh, bahaha! You’ll be surprised with the clever and witty phrases that catch you off guard and just when you need it most. Feast really shouldn’t be missed.

As you may find, mazes make you thirsty and hungry; so you’ll be happy to know you can find many private patios areas to relax in. We loved the hidden spaces that you discover as you give a secret code or correctly answer to Zoltar, so keep your eye for these little gems. If you spend a little extra, you can venture to the RIP Lounge on board the Queen Mary overlooking the monsters and mayhem below, while bartenders pour a variety of creative cocktails and you sink into comfy couches.

Also, there are a variety of food vendors; indulge in a big slice, a hot dog on the go or seek out one of the healthier choices available. We found ourselves burning extra calories running through the mazes, so a big slice and hot dogs were our menu choices of the night; sometimes you just have to be a big kid!

Note that it is a great time to play, have fun and explore the creative spirit of the Halloween season, even better if you have someone to protect you as you travel together through the night, it helps. This is one of our all-time favorite Halloween events, so much we might need come back before it ends.

Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor has a great entertainment schedule with music, magicians, drumming, acrobats; and a wild display of spectacular sideshows and tricks. There really is something for everyone that loves Halloween, so go check it out but remember, the monsters are waiting for you!

Hurry, Dark Harbor ends on November 1st. Tickets are currently available online. The Queen Mary is located at 1126 Queens Hwy, Long Beach, CA 90802.
