Taste of Mesa

We visited as a guest of the venue

Relaxing at Mesa Lounge in Costa Mesa

I had the opportunity to sip on some cocktails and taste a few new items on the menu at Mesa. The ambiance at Mesa is sexy, and Chef Niki rocked it! Mesa is a perfect place for a date night or dinner with friends. I promise this place will have you feeling sexy too.

Did someone say cocktails? I enjoyed a few of Mesa’s New Signature Cocktails and let me tell you; I could sip on them all night! From the Tempest infused gin to the Bonita Applebottom rye whiskey and the High Chi with kettle one, I was one happy girl.

Each signature cocktail had its own unique taste, and you could taste that the mixologist put his heart and soul into each cocktail. I will be sipping on more than one of these as I ring in 2017 at Mesa with my girlfriends.

Signature Cocktails:
The Tempest:  thyme-infused gin, pear liqueur, lemon, bubbles and absinthe spray.

Bonita Applebottom at Mesa Lounge in Costa Mesa

Bonita Applebottom: Montenegro, rye whiskey, green apple, lemon, and pomegranate.

High Chai at Mesa Lounge in Costa Mesa

High Chai: kettle one vodka, chai, lemon, Fernet, and tonic.

The cocktails weren’t just unique they satisfied my taste with every little sip. Judging from the cocktails I had the pleasure of sampling, I had the feeling their food would be incredible as well. My suspicion was correct! Let start with the Savory Appetizers….

The Beet Salad was beautiful, refreshing and tasty. I love shrimp, and when paired with chorizo, it was like tasting shrimp for the first time. Both dishes are a must try.

Roasted Beet Salad: roasted gold and red beets, beet puree, burrata, pickled cherries and champagne vinaigrette with croutons.

Shrimp at Mesa Lounge in Costa Mesa

Grilled Marinated Shrimp: sweet and spicy Bilbao chorizo, corn, heirloom tomatoes and chimichurri sauce. Both of these appetizers are amazing, and I definitely recommend trying.

Halibut at Mesa Lounge in Costa Mesa

Now on to the Main Courses! The Halibut is the way to go; it’s very soft and tasteful in a non-fishy way. The Seared Scallops with the squash risotto was yummy, and the Braised Short Rib was hands down my favorite; the sherry cream sauce had me licking my plate (not really, but kind of).

Main Courses:
Halibut: brown butter brussels sprouts, crispy fingerling potatoes and romesco sauce.

Pan Seared Scallops:  squash risotto, bacon lardons, frisee, and black maple pepper gastrique.

Short Rib at Mesa Lounge in Costa Mesa

Wine Braised Short Rib: house made gnocchi, mushrooms, caramelized onion, parmesan cheese and sherry cream sauce.

The main courses were all very flavorful and had my taste buds exploding with every bite!

Apple Fig Crumble at Mesa Lounge in Costa Mesa

Dessert! Dessert! Dessert!
Apple and Fig Crumble: Baked apple and fig crumble, salted pecans topped with brown butter ice cream. Let’s just say I ate the whole thing….you have to eat the whole thing too!
