The Creation of Thor: Ragnarok

After attending the premiere of Thor: Ragnarok, I had the honor of attending a press conference with the talented actors and creators of Thor: Ragnarok. The cast in the film Thor: Ragnarok has perfect chemistry as they worked hard to create one of the best Marvel films ever made.

When I entered the room at the Montage in Beverly Hills, I took my seat in the front row and anxiously anticipated the arrival of the cast. As the moderator began to announce the names of the cast and they entered the room, all of the press started to clap and cheer.

Once your family sees the film, you will notice that Thor is unlike any other superhero. Chris Hemsworth commented on this fact by saying, “I think we all had a vision and an idea. We wanted to do something vastly different than what we’d done before, and take it to a different place. That meant doing away with what we knew and just reinventing it. It all came from his (Director Taika Waititi) crazy, wonderful brain, his inspiration, and him pushing us every day on the set, and constantly encouraging us to improvise, explore, and take risks.”

“It was one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve ever had on a set, and a film that I feel the proudest of because of the team, the collaboration, and the fun we had.” Chris Hemsworth

The entire cast agreed that Taika Waititi was the driving force behind creating such a cinematic masterpiece. When it came to working on the film, Waititi said, “I knew my strengths, and I had to ignore the scale of this monster. It’s a huge, huge film. I just had to keep reminding myself what’s more important. That doesn’t matter the scale of the film, and I just focused down on what I was used to, which was what’s in front of the camera.”

As a mom who is not a big fan of film containing a lot of violence, I loved that this film had a bigger focus on story and comedy – which is what made it the best Marvel film yet. Kevin Feige shared that they wanted moments of humor throughout the film. He continued to say, “If you look at the movie, it’s got the epic action. It’s got Thor arguably more powerful than he’s ever been in any of the films, with his powers going up against the Hulk. At the same time embracing what Mr. Hemsworth does better than anyone up until now has ever been able to see, which is his acting chops expands to comedy in an amazing, in an amazing way.”

The cast continued to talk about their favorite memories making the film with my favorite being when a member of the press asked Waititi if there are any ‘easter eggs’ in the dump scenes and he responded by saying, “Yeah. And in the trash pile, there is one Easter egg, an actual egg!” When he shared this, the entire room broke out in laughter. Another fun fact about the making of the film was that Waititi would sing the ‘Don’t bite your friend’ song from Yo Gabba Gabba to Cate Blanchett while on the set. “That was my entrance into Asgard, don’t bite your friends,” said Blanchett.

Thor: Ragnarok is the best Marvel film every made, and your family is going to fall in love with the characters in theaters this Friday, November 3rd. Learn more about Thor: Ragnarok on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
