The Magic of Matilda the Musical
We attended as a guest of the venue
Ever since I was about five, I started watching the movie “Matilda.” I watched it at home, at my Grandparent’s house and I would bring it to my friend’s houses with me. When I was old enough to read chapter books, one of the first books I read was Matilda. I have literally grown up with Matilda, so when I went to see the Nutcracker, and I saw that they were going to make a musical out of Matilda, I was so excited that when I got home, I quickly asked my mom if we could go.
When we got to the theater, I was so excited, but unfortunately on opening day they had some technical difficulties and the show was canceled. I was upset at first, but my mom reassured me that we could go the next day. When the next day came, I was counting the minutes until we would leave to see the show.
We found our seats, sat down, and just had to wait for the magic to happen. Then, it happened. The curtains lifted, and the audience applauded as the first scene began. The play was fantastic. From the music to the acting everything was perfect in this play. My brother and I were on the edge of the seats wondering what was going to happen next (even though we already knew from reading the book.)
When the musical ended, we talked and talked on the car ride home about the special effects, the music, and the actors. This performance was my favorite play ever performed at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts If you haven’t seen this performance, get your tickets now, because this one is a must see. Matilda the Musical will be playing until January 29th.
