The magic of Christmas has come alive with the American Ballet Theater’s (ABT) stunning performance of The Nutcracker at Segerstrom Hall.
A long time family favorite, this classic story follows young Clara on a dreamlike adventure through fantastic scenery to find magical toy soldiers, sugar plum fairies, villainous mice, glittery snowflakes, and best of all, beautifully choreographed and executed ballet. ABT’s newest Nutcracker, created by Alexei Ratmansky and featuring sets and costumes from Richard Hudson (Broadway’s Lion King) boasts a cast of more than 100 performers. Music by Peter Tchaikovsky with Pacific Symphony is the quintessential backdrop to the phenomenal dancers on stage.

The Nutcracker has become one of our very favorite mother daughter Christmas traditions. This was my daughter’s fourth year attending a Nutcracker, and in the months leading up to Christmas, she greatly looks forward to it. It is the perfect tradition to add to your Christmas season, whether it be a family affair, mother-daughter day out, or a date night, it is sure to put you in the Christmas spirit.
The Nutcracker is at Segerstrom through Sunday, December 20th. Tickets start at $29 and may be purchased online at SCFTA.org, through the Box Office at 600 Town Center Drive in Costa Mesa or by calling (714) 556-2787.
