Timber Mountain Log Ride Grand Re-Opening

The Knott’s Berry Farm Timber Mountain Log Ride officially re-opened to the public today with a special ceremony. The Timber Mountain Log Ride, is the oldest flume log ride in the country first opening at Knott’s Berry Farm, in 1969. The ride is one of the most popular attractions in the park, bringing happiness to more than 2.7 million guests a year.

The ride was originally funded by designer Bud Hurlbut who also designed Knott’s Calico Mine Ride. The ride features an eight-story building with a 42 feet drop at the end of the ride. There are 350,000 gallons of water flowing throughout the ride. The original ride featured 24 characters and since the renovation will now feature 40 human figures and over 100 different types of foliage.

“The Timber Mountain Log Ride not only embodies the spirit of Knott’s Berry Farm, but it also set the bar for all themed attractions that came after,” says Raffi Kaprelyan, Knott’s general manager who worked for Bud Hurlbut from 1979-1983. “Bud Hurlbut made numerous contributions to Knott’s Berry Farm, but I think that the Timber Mountain Log Ride remains his crowning achievement.”
