Families Enjoy Things to do in Orange County at the Great Park Pumpkin Harvest
The Orange County Great Park Pumpkin Harvest was a great event, giving local families fun things to do in Orange County last weekend. Thousands of families came out for a day packed with family fun, pumpkins, crafts and food! We were so honored to have an opportunity to meet all of our OC Mom Blog readers, and make new friends at our craft booth. We had over 2,500 children participate in the crafts at our booth, spin the wheel-o-prizes and win raffle prizes at the end of the day! Sun Chips graciously donated, over 500 bags of chips, for parents to try at our booth for an afternoon snack.
We want to thank everyone who came out to enjoy this special day with us!
The day started out as a foggy morning, but that did not stop local families from coming out early to the event. Right when the gates opened at 9am, all of the families started coming into the Great Park for a day full of action packed fun. The carousel was running throughout the day, children participated in trick-or-treating, and the big orange “pumpkin” balloon gave families a ride high above Orange County.
Throughout the day, there were cooking demos where families got to learn how to make a Bacon Fried Egg Sandwich, Cheese pops, and more. There were interactive puppet shows, and all of the children visiting the event got to bring home a pumpkin from the Great Park pumpkin patch.
The Great Park Pumpkin Harvest was also the kick-off to the Great Park Food Drive. Families participating in the fun all brought canned food to the event to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank and CAPOC’s Orange County Food Bank. Families are still invited to participate in the Food Drive until November 24th, by bringing canned food items to the Visitors Center Pavilion, Thursday through Sunday or at the Sunday Farmers Market.
The Great Park hosts wonderful family events throughout the year, and they are located right off the 5 or 405 freeway at Sand Canyon and Marine Way in Irvine. Stay updated with their family events online or by visiting our events calendar.
