Thrive Juice Lab Cleanse

Thrive means to grow well, be healthy, fly high, flourish, bloom, sprout, prosper, succeed, and blossom. What a wonderful way to look at life and the food that we put into our bodies. Thrive Juice Lab really takes the phrase “you are what you eat” seriously. Everything is organic, cold pressed, gmo-free, soy free, dairy free, gluten-free, mostly raw, and made on site daily. It’s not your typical juice bar where you order your juice and then they make it. There is no “create your own” juice. All the juices are pre-made daily and it’s as easy as walking in and picking up your favorite juice from the counter. I personally love this because my time is usually crunched and there is no long line to wait it. Don’t fret, they have plenty of juices, both sweet and serious to choose from. They also have pre made snacks and salads as well as smoothies, and acai bowls! I’m so excited for another healthy lunch option in South OC.

A few months ago, my friend told me about this local juice place that opened up and I procrastinated in trying it because it’s a bit out of my normal driving loop, but now I’m hooked! It’s called Thrive Juice Lab and it’s a fabulous juice bar that has a natural boutique like atmosphere. The decor really sets the tone of true healthcare, and I just adore their logo and motto.

Every day on the Thrive cleanse includes 2 detox smoothies, 2 organic cold pressed juices, choice of soup or salad, raw balls or chia pudding, 1 E3live shot (algae shot), 1 cold pressed shot (ginger lemon cayenne), and unlimited alkaline water. It’s important to drink plenty of pure water while you are cleansing, and alkaline water is the best. Just like everything in the juice lab, everything in the cleanse is also organic, gmo-free, gluten-free, dairy free, and soy free. Here is what a typical day looks like.

8am – BREAKFAST Detox Smoothie + Shot (e3live)
11am – SNACK Cold Pressed Juice + Shot (ginger lemon)
1:30pm – LUNCH Salad or Soup
4:30pm – DINNER Cold Pressed Juice + Raw Balls or Chia Pudding
7:30pm – DESSERT PM Smoothie (vanilla)

A normal juice cleanse typically consists of 6 juices each day, while the Thrive cleanse has only 2. At first I felt a little cheated by this, but once I started the cleanse, I loved it! The smoothie and shot in the morning are really filling, as is the dessert smoothie (which is my favorite), and you get the added benefits of fiber so you stay fuller longer than you would with a juice. If you’ve ever done a juice cleanse before, you know that those mid day hours can be quite difficult, however on the Thrive cleanse I don’t feel like caving in to food because it’s allowed and I know I can make it through to the dinner drink and smoothie. Thrive has perfectly designed their cleanse with the salad and raw balls during those peak hunger hours.

I normally do a cleanse about every 3-4 months to make sure my body and mind are the best they can be, so cleansing isn’t a new thing to me and I no longer have some of the typical detox symptoms…

  • fatigue & irritability
  • headaches
  • muscle & joint pain
  • flu-like symptoms
  • stomach cramps/bloating
  • changes in bathroom habits
  • skin eruptions
  • strange taste in mouth/bad breath/ change in body odor

I actually feel the benefits sooner than I would if I had never cleansed before, most likely because I do them frequently. Once you experience cleansing like this, you start to listen to your body and what it’s telling you, and I now know when I need to cleanse because I’ll start to have sinus pressure, allergies, headaches, a bloated stomach, and just an overall tired feeling. We live in such a toxic world where we are constantly exposed to known and unknown toxins that build up in our bodies over time. Cleansing actually helps the body to eliminate those toxins and allows the body to function at its optimal state. And isn’t that something that we all truly want – to feel our best?

Some of the benefits of doing a cleanse include…

  • clearer skin
  • overcoming cravings for sugar and salty foods/other processed foods
  • restoration of gut health (80% of your immune system is in your gut)
  • reduction of inflammation
  • weight loss
  • increased energy

Day’s 1 and 2 were great for me. I felt a little hungry around 12:30 and 4:00 on day 2, but that’s to be expected. Today is day 3 of my cleanse and I’m happily detoxing, not quite as hungry as day 2, less bloated, and the best part of all – no more sinus pressure – yay!!! I even have enough energy to cook food for my family, which normally doesn’t happen when I’m doing a juice only cleanse because I’m usually so tired and grumpy (my husband can testify to that). The thought of looking at food just doesn’t seem fair when I can’t eat it, so basically everyone in the house suffers…and doesn’t that defeat the purpose of thriving anyway? The best thing about this cleanse is that it includes food! It’s not a whole lot of food, but it’s delicious, filling, and just enough to last you until your next juice or smoothie without exploding along the way…or without feeling guilty because you had a bite of something and cheated on the cleanse. There’s no more torturing yourself or your family!

I have done many cleanses before, but after experiencing the Thrive way, I’m convinced that it’s the only way for me. I may still do a 1 or 2 day juice cleanse here or there, but I probably won’t be doing a 5 or 7 day juice only cleanse again. Please keep in mind that everyone is different, and every BODY is different. I think it’s important to get back on track, and whether that is a juice cleanse or one that includes food, they are both benefiting your body in removing toxins, and that is the ultimate goal. So if you’re ever in Laguna Niguel and want to experience the Thrive difference, I know you will love it just as much as I have!
