Tips for Managing Seasonal Allergies with Children

We received samples and blue masks from Claritin to host our party.

One of the downsides of summertime is seasonal allergies. My husband and older son have struggled with seasonal allergies their entire life, and summertime is one of the hardest for them to manage. With all the blooming flowers and grasses, it is a continuous battle for both of them. Recently, I invited some of my girlfriends over to talk and share their tips for managing seasonal allergies with children. Together, we were able to share all of our tips to help make our children more comfortable during the summer months.

One tip that we all agreed on was the importance of exercise. Keeping our kids active can help boost their immune system so that they can better fight their seasonal allergies.

The second tip is to cook healthy. Food has many healing properties, and I have used healthy cooking as a way to fight my a lot of my sons allergies. During the party, all of the moms brought their favorite kid-friendly healthy dish and recipe for us to share. We all walked away with new recipes to try with our families at home.

Some of the recipes that we enjoyed at the party included:

Fresh Fruit Smoothies

  • 1 fresh banana
  • 1/2 cup of fresh berries
  • 1/3 cup of fat-free milk
  • 1/3 cup of plain yogurt
  • 1 Tbl. orange juice
  • 1 Tbl. of honey

Directions: Mix all of the ingredients into a blender. Enjoy!

Refreshing Quinoa Salad

  • 1 1/2 cups quinoa
  • 2 1/2 cups of chopped cucumber
  • 3 diced roma tomatoes
  • 1/2 red onion chopped
  • 1/2 cup of chopped parsley
  • 1/4 cup of olive oil
  • 3 Tbl. of lemon juice
  • 2 Tbl. of lemon zest

  1. Cook quinoa per package instructions
  2. Once the quinoa has cooled, mix the remaining ingredients.
  3. Enjoy!

The final tip that all the moms agreed upon was how Children’s Claritin can help play a role in managing our children’s allergies. We always have it on-hand in our medicine cabinet to help keep my son healthy throughout the year.

While all of the moms were enjoying lunch together, the boys were relaxing on the front porch. It was a wonderful day together with friends and family.
