Tips for Teaching Kids to do the Dishes

Sponsored

One of the first chores that I taught my children how to do was to empty and fill the dishwasher every night. Since most families do their dishes in the evening after dinner when the kids get ready for bed, I highly recommend getting the #1 dishwasher on the market, Bosch, because it is the quietest dishwasher brand in the U.S.

My children first started helping with the dishes around ten years of age, and you’ll want to properly train your children on how to care for the dishes/dishwasher before letting them start doing the household chore.

Caring for the dishwasher
One of the most important things you’ll want to do is stress the importance of caring for the household dishwasher. Bosch is an excellent choice when purchasing your dishwasher because it is the most reliable dishwasher brand with the lowest repair rate according to a leading consumer publication. If you have the Bosch 100 dishwasher, you don’t have to worry about continually cleaning the front of it because it features fingerprint-resistant stainless steel that helps guard against smudges and fingerprints and is easy to clean!

Safety
Until my children were about 13, I would not let them handle the dishwashing detergent. I would let them fill the dishwasher, and then I would be responsible for putting the detergent into the washer and starting it every night before bed. With the 3rd rack in the Bosch 100, it allows families for 30% more loading space, and the Adjustable Rackmatic™ rack provides nine adjustable positions giving you maximum loading flexibility. I advised my children that there will be times when they will break a glass inside the dishwasher and that it is important not to attempt to clean it on their own (so they don’t get hurt).

Organizing
The biggest struggle that I had when teaching my children how to do the dishes was having them put the dishes back where they belonged. The first couple of times that my children did the dishes, I would walk them through the process and show them where everything in the kitchen belongs (especially the silverware). With the utility rack in the Bosch 100 dishwasher, it has the perfect place for hard to place items like that last whisk and opens up space on the upper rack for the rest of your dishes. Be prepared for this to be a little bit of a bumpy process, but within a couple of days, they will remember where to put everything away.

Now that it is back-to-school time, it is the perfect time to get your children involved in household chores like helping with doing the dishes. If your family has been looking to upgrade your home dishwasher, choose quality for your home with the Bosch 100 dishwasher available at Best Buy. Bosch offers a variety of designs and door handle are available to fit any kitchen.
