Tips for Packing a Gluten-Free Lunch

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

Whenever my parents would take us to visit my Italian grandparents on Arthur Avenue, we would come home with bags of local fruits, veggies, fresh meat and fish.  It was all fresh, simple and real.

Your child’s gluten-free lunch can be based on many of the same, less processed, fresh foods. You can pack your child their own fruit and cheese assortment, along with their favorite gluten-free crackers or organic tortilla chips.

Spoon some home-made lentil soup into a little container. Something as simple as a hardboiled egg nestled on a bed of greens can be a big kid-pleaser, but be mindful of your choice of salad dressing, because some are derived from gluten grains.

Always include a little assortment of veggies, and a dipper of yogurt. An interactive lunch is fun for any child. At No Fuss Lunch, we always include an antibacterial wipe. For GF kids, it’s a good idea to pack a wipe so they (or a lunchroom helper) can make sure they enjoy their lunch on a clean surface. Gluten-free school lunches can and should be angst free for you and your child.

Founded in 2012 by mom of three Gabriella Wilday, No Fuss Lunch packs hundreds of fresh lunches each day for school children, campers and seniors. No Fuss Lunch maintains a nut-free, commercial kitchen and employs local Mom’s and Dad’s from the communities it serves. All lunches are prepared without high fructose corn syrup, white sugar, white flour, or MSG. Fresh, locally sourced, and organic ingredients are used whenever possible.
