Ultimate Desert Vacation at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas

Are you looking for the ultimate summer vacation for your family? Your family will make a major splash together while creating unforgettable memories at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas in Rancho Mirage.

We kicked off the warm summer months by taking a road trip to Palm Springs for a family vacation at Rancho Las Palmas. From the moment that we arrived at the resort, our family felt an overwhelming sense of relaxation in the plush lobby. The kids cooled down with a glass of refreshing water and put on their splashtopia wristbands to kick-off the weekend fun.

We jumped back into the car, and found the casitas-type building where our room was located. We parked our car in-front of our hotel room and unloaded all our suitcases for the weekend. We lucked out by getting one of the prime rooms located on the bottom floor overlooking the serene golf course. The kids immediately ran out the back patio door to explore and run around the lush golf course.

Instead of ordering room with double beds, we took a friend’s recommendation of getting a king bed, which worked out fantastic for our family of five. By ordering a King bedroom, we were able to have more space in the room during the day, and there was plenty of room for everyone to sleep. We were able to have our two younger children sleep in the pull-out sofa sleeper, and my older son slept in a roll-away bed.

The room has a small desk, television, mini bar, and a large bathroom with vanity area. The closet was one of the largest closest that I have seen at resort that is perfectly designed for a large family like mine.

After we all had got settled into our room, it was time to visit the pool. The resort has a regular family pool with jacuzzi, but it is their Splashtopia waterpark that is the highlight of the resort. There is a lazy river, water slides, splash pad and mini beach for the younger children. Surrounding the lazy river are a plethora of lounge chairs where parents can order food and drinks when taking a break from the water fun.

Our kids spent hours playing at Splashtopia until they closed, and then we headed over to the oversized family pool. Families were laughing and creating special memories together along with my family under the warm summer sun.

After we had dinner, we returned for more water fun before retreating to our hotel room to rent The Lego Movie. We all cuddled up together as a family on the large king sized bed while singing the song “everything is awesome” before drifting off to sleep.

In the morning, we visited The Living Desert Zoo where we got to feed the giraffes before returning for more fun at Splashtopia. We floated down the lazy river and sped down the water slides for hours.

The Rancho Las Palmas is centrally located right inbetween Palm Springs and Palm Desert. There is a wide variety of delicious restaurants just minutes from the resort, and a shopping mall across the street just in case your family has forgotten to pack something for the trip.

When making your summer vacation plans, make sure and book a weekend getaway to stay at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas! The Rancho Las Palmas is located at 41000 Bob Hope Drive in Rancho Mirage.
