Ultimate Family Luxury Minivan: The 2015 Kia Sedona

Review vehicle provided

I have driven many minivans during my past 13 years of parenthood, and none of them compare to the Kia Sedona that I recently drove for a week. I have heard my good friend, Naz, talk forever about how much she loves her Kia Sedona, and I quickly learned why she loves it so much when I first got behind the wheel.

It wasn’t just me that fell in love with the Sedona but also my children. From the dual sunroofs to the lounging captains chairs, the kids were begging me to trade in my full-size SUV so they can cruise around town in a Sedona.

Kia is clearly the leader in the industry when it comes to technology, and the Sedona has everything that parents could want out of a minivan. The navigation is simple to use, and the car features plenty of places for teenagers to keep their technology charged and the sound system will have your family rockin’ out while cruising around town.

The body style of the Sedona is just another fantastic feature of the car. I found myself getting compliments on the car while at the local gas station, from other moms at our local school and I even had someone roll their window down at a street light to ask me what the body color of the Sedona I was driving was (which was Platinum Silver).

The car comes with the best safety features available including dual front advanced airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags for all three rows and active front headrests. For families with younger children, the car comes equipped with lower anchors and tethers for children (LATCH), and the car can stop on a dime with the anti-lock braking system (ABS) and brake assist system (BAS). While I was driving the car, the car sensed low tire pressure, and my family was kept safe by being immediately notified in the dashboard of low tire pressure from the tire pressure monitoring system.

One of my biggest driving struggles has been parking cars. I have never been very successful when it comes to parallel parking, and I am always “that mom” who never has her car parked completely within the lines of the parking spot. The Sedona backup camera helped me to be able to perfect my parking skills for the first time. The camera was able to give me a full 360 aerial view of the car as I backed into a parking spot at our local shopping center. Not only did it help me to park to perfection but also gave me the added comfort of knowing that there were not children surrounding the car when backing up.

The fuel economy won’t break the family budget with the car getting an average of 19mpg (city/hwy), 17mpg around town and 22mpg on the freeway. Kia also stands firmly behind their brand by offering a 10 year/100,000 mile limited powertrain warranty, 5 year/60,000 mile limited basic warranty, and a 5 year/60,000 mile roadside assistance.

We were able to take the Sedona from hiking in our local canyons to football practice to date night. If your family is in the market for a new family vehicle, don’t miss test driving the Kia Sedona. I guarantee that you’ll fall in love with the car just as much as I did – and I now find myself jealous when spotting my friend Naz driving her Sedona every morning on the way to school.
