My kids are in the middle of their summer break which means that we’ve gone through most of their summer bucket list and have gone back a few times on some of the items.  The other day I heard the dreaded “we’re bored”, ugh!  So what can I do to entertain my kids for more than an hour of time and not have to drive all around town?  The Kaleidoscope Center in Mission Viejo has the solution to my problem and it’s called Kaleido-Kids Summertime Fun Series, I call it Adventure Tuesday.  If you haven’t already heard about  the Summertime Fun Series then let me give you the 411.

11

Adventure One starts at 10:00am with Regal Theaters.   Regal has their Regal Summer Movie Express which features family movies (rated G or PG) for only $1 admission per person with a portion of the proceeds going to the Will Rogers Institute.  The program will run until mid-August with select titles playing on Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout the summer.  We went and saw Madagascar 3 which is still a favorite for my kids. For a list of movies please visit http://www.regmovies.com/Movies/Summer-Movie-Express .

Adventure Two was at 11:30.   Kaleido-Kids Summertime Fun Series is an hour-long free event for kids such as a Dance Party, Drawing Program and Magic Show.  We went to the Song Writing show and my kids were able to help write a song and perform it at the end of the show.

The series is sponsored by Jump ‘n Jammin and really popular so be sure to come down to the second level once the movie is done. The series concludes on August 26 from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm with a Mini Carnival benefiting Make A Wish of Orange County and the Inland Empire.

The Kaleido-Kids Carnival on will include inflatables, games, a juggler and stilt walker, face painting and a balloon artist.  Guests who bring a new toy (no guns please) or new backpack to donate to Make-A-Wish will receive six game tickets and a “Spin to Win,” a chance to win prizes.  Please visit www.gokaleidoscope.com  for more information.

Adventure Three lunch.  There are so many great dining options at the Kaleidoscope; even the pickiest eater will be content.  My kids are obsessed with Teppan.  With amazing lunch prices Riptide Rockin’ Sushi & Teppan Grill was the ideal place to take my kids.

A show and a meal, does it get better than that?  Our fabulous chef, Israel, captivated my children and had them laughing their entire meal.

For location and hours please visit www.riptidesushi.com.  When we were done with our lunch my insanely energized kids needed to go and let off some steam so off we went to our next adventure.

Adventure Four 2:00.  As we were walking towards the escalator my son saw the sign for Laser Quest.

22

He had gone to Laser Quest a few times for parties but we had no clue that you could drop in for a game.  Games cost under $10 so why not strap on the gear and run around in the dark shooting whoever you can for 40 minutes.  I wasn’t overjoyed about the concept but once I got in, I was ruthless.

It is so awesome in there!!!!  They have ramps you run up and run down and little nooks to hide in all along trying to hit your target.  I think I had more fun than the kids.  I will be going back maybe even during the school year without my kids (lol).   Right now Laser Quest has an amazing summer deal 3 games for $21.

Adventure Five 3:00.  So you would think that with all the jam-packed fun my kids experienced at the Kaleidoscope they would be tired but as we were walking towards the escalator, to get to the car, they saw Jump ‘n Jammin and really wanted to go.

9

Now if you haven’t been to Jump ‘n Jammin then you have been missing out.  Jump ‘n Jammin is a huge, indoor, interactive multi-level playground consisting of tube and web crawls, barrel roll, giant slides, soft play, climbing structures, bridges and obstacle courses.

7

They also have foam ball blasters, an exploding foam ball volcano, rock climbing as well as a toddlers play area.  The best part of Jump ‘n Jammin is that you can either sit back and enjoy the free Wi-Fi or in my case join in on all the fun.

My kids loved having me play in the obstacle course, sure I was out of breath but it was worth it.  My son still giggles when he retells anyone who will listen how he shot me in the head with a foam ball.  For more information about Jump ‘n Jammin, please check out their website at http://www.jumpnjammin.com/#!mission-home/cgpg.

I love spending time with my kids and want to make their summer time with me as memorable as possible.  I want them to look back and say wow we had an amazing summer which I know they would even if they got to sit around and watch TV all day, but I want them away from the screen and out enjoying what Orange County has to offer.  We live in a pretty special place so why not take advantage of all that it has to offer.  I’d like to thank everyone at the Kaleidoscope Center for making it possible for me to make such fabulous summer memories with my kids.

I’m an OC mom of two and photographer. I love living in Southern California and want to expose my children to all that it offers. I love taking my kids on adventures and capturing their every moment so much so that my kids find it odd if I don’t take their pictures. You can see my work on facebook.com/photosbynaz.
