Unveiling of Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! Music

We visited as a guest of Disney

The Walkman opened, the awesome mixtape was inserted, and the Disney Imagineering team hit play to listen to nearly 100 high-energy songs before finally selecting the final six songs that will be featured in the new Disney California Adventure attraction, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! Just like in the movie, music plays a major role in the storytelling of the attraction that will immerse visitors into a futuristic world.

This afternoon, I put on an old pair of work boots and drove to Anaheim to get an exclusive first look at the all-new Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! When I arrived at Disney California Adventure Park, I was guided to the wall that surrounds the new upcoming attraction, handed a hard hat, and welcomed to come behind-the-scenes.

Getting to be taken on a guided tour of the new attraction with the Imagineers who are bringing the ride to life was a day that I will never forget. The passion that the Imagineers have for making the attraction an unforgettable experience for visitors shined bright with every word that they spoke.

One of the biggest passions that the Imagineers had when creating Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! was to find the perfect songs to be featured on the ride. An exciting part of my tour was having the Imagineers unveil the final songs they selected. They surprised everyone on the tour with the song titles by playing a fun game of “guess that song.”

Along with ascending and thrilling drops, guests will experience one of six random scenarios matched with one of these six songs on Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!

“Hit Me With Your Best Shot” by Pat Benatar

“Give Up The Funk” by Parliament

“Born to be Wild” by Steppenwolf

“I Want You Back” by The Jackson 5

“Free Ride” by The Edgar Winters Group

“Burning Love” by Elvis Presley

The “Guardians of the Galaxy” composer, Tyler Bates, wrote the music that will be played in the lobby and office. When leaving the attraction, listen closely, you might hear the sounds from some of the animals that escaped during the “breakout.”

Take your children to see the new film “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” in theaters on May 5th, and then bring them to ride the new attraction Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! at Disney California Adventure Park when it opens on May 27th!!
