Valentine’s Day Isn’t Just for Couples | 7 Ways Single Moms Can Celebrate

No matter what your relationship status is, Valentine’s Day can be an opportunity to celebrate love and happiness with friends or family. It doesn’t matter whether you’re single or in a committed relationship. Here are some ideas for single moms to enjoy this romantic holiday.

Health Tips

Make Cards for Each Other

Ask your child (ren) what they would like to do on their special day, and the chances are that they’ll want to do something special for you. Quality time can be a lot better than buying them presents. One of the most interesting things you can do is make cards for each other. Children love to come up with ways of showing how much they care about their parents, and making cards can be an excellent way for them to do this. You could make one together or let your child/ren make you lots on their own. Write simple messages like ‘I love you’ or ‘I’m lucky to have you.’

Plan a Little Date

What could possibly be cuter than going on a date with your child(ren)? Picking the best flowers for valentines, dressing fancy, and being in each other’s company will brighten up even the dullest days. Some of the best date ideas include:

  • Going out for their favorite ice cream
  • Visiting your local zoo
  • Going to a special themed restaurant
  • Fishing together
  • Learning a new skill together
  • Playing at the park

Baking together

Children love being in the kitchen, and baking with their moms is always great. You get to spend time together and get delicious little treats in the end. They can help out with stirring, measuring, and adding ingredients while you could supervise the oven. When you are done, enjoy whatever you have made together. Alternatively, you can share it with their friends or your loved ones.

Watch a Favorite Film Together

What’s better than some screen time with your kids on Valentine’s Day? Children enjoy watching their favorite films over and over again, so why not spend time watching it with them? You could chat about the characters or what’s happened so far. Doing this on Valentine’s Day can be a great reminder to your child/ren of how much you love them every day of the year.

Read a Story Together

Children like nothing better than snuggling up on the sofa with their parents and enjoying a storybook. You could choose your child/ren’s favorite story, read it with silly voices and make them laugh, or make up your version of the story. Reading is one of the most critical activities for a child as it helps with their development, vocabulary, and imagination. Spending some time reading together is a beautiful way of spending time on Valentine’s Day.

Plan a Date With Other Single Moms

Spending time with your kids is great, but you want to be around fellow adults who understand your struggles once in a while. It eases loneliness and gives you much-needed support. While the kids are away, you can play games, talk, cook meals together, watch a movie, and make a few cocktails. Your goal should be to bask in love and have as much fun as possible.

Valentine’s Day is a great time to enjoy love. You don’t have to be in a relationship to enjoy it. If you are a single mum, you can schedule a date with other single mums, read a story with your kids, bake together, or go on a date. Whatever you do, ensure that you have fun.
