Visiting the Morro Bay Aquarium

We visited as a guest

The Morro Bay Aquarium is one of the smallest yet special aquariums we have visited during our travels. If you were not looking for it, then you might walk right past it. It is right on the waterfront in Morro Bay, and the front of the Aquarium is a large souvenir shop. The kids and I visited the aquarium while on our bike ride and wished that we had scheduled more time to spend with the animals.

We began by parking our double surrey in front of the Aquarium, and the kids walked in to look around at all the wonderful souvenirs sold in the store. Once they were done shopping, we purchased some food for the seals went into the aquarium.

The moment that we walked in the aquarium the seals were so happy to see us and were barking and making so much noise. My children loved feeding them food, and it was the highlight of their visit to the Aquarium. My older animal loving son did feel concerned about the small cages that the seals were living in and spent the entire visit purchasing more food to feed them.

After we had visited the seals, we walked into a room full of large aquariums filled with lots of sealife. My children gazed into the glass aquariums admiring all the beautiful fish, sharks and a giant octopus.

Once we were done at the aquarium, we walked next door to have an educational learning experience at the Morro Bay Estuary Nature Center. When planning your visit to Morro Bay, your children will love getting to feed the seals at the aquarium. Expect to plan about 20-25 minutes to get the most of our your visit.
