Nature Explore for Little Ones – Leafing Around

Join Laguna Canyon Foundation Volunteers and OC Parks staff to explore leaves in their many shapes, sizes, and textures. Enjoy a leaf story, a leaf song, leafing around, a leafy-snack, and make your own leafy Valentine’s Day card! An easy half-mile walk. Hike runs 9:00am – 11:00am for ages 3 and up. Laguna Coast Wilderness Park, Little Sycamore Canyon Staging Area/Nix Nature Center (west side of Laguna Canyon Rd/SR-133, approximately 3.5 miles south of I-5/405). Reservations required. Little Naturalists: Spectacular Senses

Little Naturalist programs are outdoor experiential education classes designed for 3 – 5 year olds and their adult guardians.  Activities are designed to encourage exploration and discovery and to enrich a child’s emerging physical and cognitive skills. Program runs 9:30am – 10:30am. Parents remain with children at all times. $6 per participant ($5 for members). Pre-payment is required. Register early online.

Visit with Preserve staff for story-telling fun! After a story, learn more about the natural history of the Bay through crafts, hands-on activities and nature walks. Come prepared for an exciting outdoor experience! Program runs 10:30am – 11:30am. Recommended for ages 2-8. Cost: $5 per student. Parking: Free. Shark Lagoon Night at Aquarium of the Pacific

100 Aquarium Way

Guests will have the opportunity to touch bamboo sharks and see large sharks such as sand tigers as well as rays in the Aquarium’s Shark Lagoon. Event runs 6:00pm – 9:00pm. Coffee, hot cocoa, beer, wine, desserts, and snacks are available for purchase. Please note that while it is almost every Friday, some Fridays are excluded. Please check the dates for availability. Shark Lagoon Nights are weather-dependent and can be canceled due to inclement weather. Only Shark Lagoon is open and available for guests during these free events.
