Woody Harrelson: Solo: A Star Wars Story

We attended the interview as a guest of Disney

Woody Harrelson delivers an epic performance in Solo: A Star Wars Story as Tobias Beckett. While in Los Angeles earlier this month, I had the honor of meeting Harrelson and getting to talk about what it was like working on the film, and how he lives a healthy lifestyle.

Harrelson got involved in the film by being in London while shooting a movie that he wrote and directed, “Lost in London.” He was going to head home, but Phil and Chris wanted to meet with him, so he made arrangements to talk. He was worried that his family would be tired of saying that he was ‘done’ after his last film, but he met with them anyway, and like with Hunger Games, he declined initially – but as we all know – he ended up in the film.

One thing that we love about Harrelson is that he is focused on life, family, and living a healthy lifestyle. After promoting the film, he has plans to visit Europe, and then spend time in Hawaii, where I’ve seen him, and shared a plane ride with, many times in the past.

My sweetest friend, Elayna Fernandez, from the Positive Mom, make sure and follow her blog, is well-known as a vegan, and living a healthy lifestyle with her family, a lot like Harrelson. So, she asked him what brought him on his journey. He said, “I was on a bus, and I sat next to this gal. I was 23 or so, and she’s sitting there, and she looks up at me rolling down the road toward Oklahoma City or somewhere. She looks at me, and I had a lot of acne, and I had a lot of mucus, and I was blowing my nose. She looks at me, and she says you’re lactose intolerant. I said what? She says, you need to stop Dairy,” said Harrelson. He continued to say, “We’re all essentially lactose tolerant because we’re not Calves. Even Cows don’t consume milk. And it’s just like most people can’t really take it in, and I think, part of it is just my presentation. But something about the way she communicated, I believed her. He then shared some great resources for families thinking about becoming vegan including a book written by Arnold Ehret “The mucusless diet.”

One important question that we all wanted to ask Harrelson was did he remember seeing the original Star Wars films. He said, “Yeah, I remember it cause you probably won’t believe this but I was alive in 1977, and you know, it was a huge thing at the time, like everybody was all about Star Wars. It became a sensation. And so I remember going to see it, and it’s so original.”
